Former Interior CS Fred Matiang’i now says that half of Kenya’s problems are not because of money but as a result of poor leadership and management.

Speaking at JKIA on Thursday, Matiang’i said that while this is the case, the country has leaders with sufficient capacity to manage the country better.

He called on all Kenyans to come together and focus on finding solutions to what currently ails the country.

“Half of our problems have nothing to do with money; they have to do with management and leadership. We are better people, we have sufficient capacity in the country to manage the country better and let us all now cross hands, come together and focus on the solution to the problems, not people, not anything,” the former CS said.

He noted that the challenges facing Kenyans do not discriminate but affect all Kenyans irrespective of the political side one supports.

Matiang’i insisted on unity, saying that the country must remain one at all times.

“I am of course, pained by the things that are happening in our country, and we don’t have to go through this. We are all one family in our country; however, you think or play your politics, our country must always be one country, one family, and we must always find a way of engaging one another. Sometimes it’s about the lives of our people, the security and stability of our country.

“The problems we have do not discriminate. People are suffering, whether you are supporting the party in power or the parties out of power. The challenges cut across, and that is the reason why we should do everything we can to ensure the survival of our country, and we focus on ensuring we change the lives of our people,” he said.

He assured Kenyans that he will spend his time going forward in finding solutions to the country’s problems and uniting the country.

“I want to assure you, and you can trust me, that I am going to spend all my time on this. I want to see how we can find solutions to challenges that we face.”
