Popular gospel musician Alex Apoko, widely known as Ringtone, has once again failed to appear in court for a scheduled pre-trial session alongside his co-accused, Alfred Juma Ayora.

Ayora, his co-accused, was present in court.

The two were expected before Senior Principal Magistrate Dolphina Alego, following charges brought earlier this year in connection with a disputed land deal in Nairobi.

The land in question is reportedly valued at Sh50 million.

Since the case was first filed on March 28, Apoko has yet to make a court appearance.

A plea hearing initially set for April 14 was also missed. His legal team has attributed his absence to health issues, stating that he is currently undergoing treatment.

As a result of his continued absence, a warrant of arrest had previously been issued, and the matter was pushed to May 7, 2025.

Apoko’s lawyer requested an additional week for his client to recover, citing ongoing medical treatment.

Magistrate Alego noted the outstanding arrest warrant and expressed concern over non-compliance by the investigating officer.

She indicated that the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions would determine the next course of action.

The case has been scheduled for mention tomorrow, where further directions are expected.
