President William Ruto has said the prosperity and security of Kenya depends on the commitment to the oath taken by the new Kenya Defence Forces officers.

Speaking during their pass-out parade on Wednesday, Ruto said that Kenyans also expect them to live up to their professional duties.

The Head of State reminded them that they must at all times serve Kenyans with being impartial and with great integrity.

"As you transition to your respective services, formations and units, I remind you of the nation's expectations. You must live up to your professional duty by sustaining the attributes of selflessness, diligence, and team spirit," he said.

Ruto told the KDF officers that they will at all times serve the people of Kenya with impartiality and integrity.

He further reminded them that they are expected to respect, uphold and defend the harmony, unity as well as diversity that distinguish and empower the nation.

"On behalf of the people of Kenya, I remind you that the prosperity and security of our nation rely on your steadfast commitment to these ideals in the course of your duties of protecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Kenya and defending it from all internal and external threats," Ruto said.

He added that the oath of allegiance they have taken initiates a sacred trust on behalf of the people of Kenya.

Ruto said it commits the new officers to embody the values of patriotism, professionalism, loyalty, and selflessness as the bedrock of their responsibilities.

President Ruto also commended the Defence Forces Recruit Training School community, from the commandant to all members of staff, for their dedication to educating and training soldiers and equipping them with the necessary knowledge and skills.

"Your collective efforts have enabled this school to continue producing service members who meet the highest standards of professionalism," he said.

He then led the gathering in a one-minute moment of silence in memory of the late Chief of Defence Forces General Francis Ogolla and the officers who died with him in a military chopper crash last month.

Ruto said General Ogolla's legacy will continue to inspire many in the military and public service.
