Bumula MP Jack Wamboka has been given additional security a few days after alleging he was facing life threats.

Wamboka is the sponsor of the motion seeking to have Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi impeached.

Making his submission Tuesday before the 11-member select committee probing the allegations against the CS, Wamboka claimed he has been encountering suspicious occurrences since the motion was approved.

"I have been followed by unmarked cars and unknown people; it is not easy but I will soldier on for the integrity of the Republic of Kenya," Wamboka told the Select Committee.

He urged the committee members to enhance the security of members in such situations.

Speaking Friday after the hearings, committee chairperson Naomi Waqo confirmed the matter has been fully addressed.

Waqo said the Inspector General of police has acceded to the request made by the committee through the clerk of the National Assembly.

"I wish to update you that the clerk has since liaised with the inspector general of police and personal security of the sponsor has been enhanced accordingly," she stated.

Linturi is set to know his fate on Monday.

The committee has retreated to write the report that will be tabled before the House special sitting on Monday.

It will also issue a notice of motion for the consideration of the report.

Waqo was convinced that as a committee, they had undertaken their mandate as required.

"We shall analyse every evidence that was submitted to this committee by all the parties and make our findings in accordance with the requirements of Article 152 (9) of the constitution," she said.

If the select committee reports that it finds the allegations are unsubstantiated, no further proceedings shall be taken.

If the Select Committee finds the allegations are substantiated, the National Assembly shall allow the Cabinet Secretary to be heard.

The National Assembly should conclude the debate on the report of the Select Committee within 14 days of the giving of the Notice of Motion for the adoption of the Committee’s report.

The House shall set a date on which the CS shall appear before the House to provide further clarifications and/or respond to matters arising from the findings of the Committee.
