Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary Korir Sing’oei has hinted that President William Ruto is set to meet various top Hollywood stars during his visit to the United States on May 21, 2024.

During an interview on Citizen TV’s JKL show Sing’oei highlighted that Ruto will be visiting the famous film production company, Tyler Perry studios where he will meet Tyler Perry.

Sing'oei said meeting top players in the film industry will help strengthen partnerships with Kenya’s film industry.

“In the context of this visit the President will visit Tyler Perry studios, he will meet with Tyler Perry, a number of players in the Hollywood ecosystem, be able to have a conversation with them in relation to how they can work together with Kenya to unlock the potential of film," Sing'oei said.

He also highlighted that Ruto will later be in Atlanta where a huge diaspora event will take place.

“it will be a culmination of a huge diaspora event. As you know we have a huge diaspora in the Atlanta area," he said.

"They will have a mega conversation around diaspora investment and remittances and ways how diaspora can plug into our economy,” he added.

In December, President Ruto announced the Grammy Awards will from January 2024 begin shooting multiple movies in Kenya. 

Speaking during the 60th Jamhuri Day celebrations held at Uhuru Gardens, the head of state said Hollywood's innovation studio agreed to partner with Kenya to elevate talents.

"This administration has also taken deliberate steps to build and invest in the creative economy. First, the famous Grammy Awards have a partnership with us, and starting January, the innovation studios of Hollywood have agreed to begin shooting multiple movies right here in Kenya," the President said.
