General Ogolla's body leaves Kisumu airport for Siaya

The body of late Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) General Francis Ogolla has left Kisumu airport for his Ng’iya home in Siaya where he is set to be laid to rest.

The body left the airport minutes past 9 am, about an hour behind the schedule.

The body has been lying at the Mashujaa Funeral Home in Nairobi since Thursday evening.

It was flown into the airport by a military plane.

Upon arrival, it was then transported by a special Mercedes hearse and escorted by outriders and military vehicles.

Several other vehicles carrying senior military officers are also part of the convoy.

Residents lined up along the way to catch a glimpse of the entourage.

It is estimated that the journey will take about one and a half hours from Kisumu to Senator Obama K'Ogello Primary School in Siaya where the burial service will be held before he is later interred at his home.

President William Ruto will arrive at Senator Obama K'Ogello Primary School at 9:45 am.

From 10 am to 12:55hrs, the mass recession for the General will be held.

It will entail opening prayers, welcoming remarks, eulogy, and tributes from family, friends representatives, church representatives, Millitary representatives and the government.

During the period, there will be sessions for Bible readings, sermons, family prayers and votes of thanks and announcements.

From 13:00hrs to 13:55hrs, the military rites and interment will follow.

All activities are expected to end by 14:00hrs.
