The case on the doctors' strike will on Wednesday come up before the Milimani Labour Court for confirmation on the status of talks.

Employment and Labour Relations Judge Byrum Ongaya will also be notified on whether the state and doctors have reached a settlement.

Ongaya had on April 3, extended the orders suspending the doctors' strike to allow for negotiations and agreement on essential services that should continue in the event of a strike.

Giving a nod to the 14 days sought by the Ministry of Health, he said the reconciliation committee should expeditiously proceed and agree on the minimum safety services doctors shall provide in case of a strike.

They are to do this with doctors' unions, CS Health, CS Labour, CS Treasury, Public Service Commission, SRC, all county governments and national referral hospitals to resolve the dispute.

"Let us know how many doctors, in what cadres and their numbers. Like KNH and other public institutions because we may be talking about minimum services that don't exist at all. Let this information be filed in court," the judge said then.
