Jane Waigwe Kimani, the wife to former Murang'a Governor Mwangi wa Iria and her brother Solomon Mutura Kimani were on Wednesday arrested and arraigned at Milimani court.

Confirming the arrest, EACC Spokesperson Eric Ngumbi said both are suspects in the Sh140 million Murang'a county graft probe.

The two are directors of one of the companies allegedly used as a conduit for the scheme.

However, Milimani Anti-Corruption Court Magistrate Thomas Nzyuki released them  after Wa Iria's counsels obtained an order from Murang'a High court suspending their prosecution pending determination of a case filed at the court.

Lady Justice Cecilia Githua issued the order stopping the prosecution of Wa Iria, his wife Jane and Kimani over an alleged Sh351 million probe.

"Proceedings before this court stand stayed pending the outcome before the Murang'a court," the Magistrate said after perusing the orders from Murang'a High Court.

EACC said it is pursuing six other suspects in the case.
