Poll: Reasons why Kenyans feel country is headed in wrong direction

In a survey released by Infotrak on Thursday, Kenyans listed 16 reasons why they feel the country is heading in the wrong direction.

High cost of living topped with 64 per cent followed by unemployment at 38 per cent.

Poor governance was third with 27 per cent, poverty at 22 per cent, poor infrastructure at 12, and bad politics tied with per cent.

Poor quality of education, unequal distribution of resources tied with 11 per cent, corruption and increased insecurity/crime tied with 10 per cent.

Tribalism had 8 per cent, lack of cohesion in the country at 6 per cent, wrong societal values at 4 per cent, unresolved land at 3 per cent, and heavy taxation at 2 per cent. Poor healthcare was last with 1 per cent.

The survey was conducted between March on March 8 and 9, 2024 

The survey sample was 1000 representing the universe of adult Kenyans who were 18 years and above at the time of the survey.

The sampling frame was designed using Population Proportionate to Size (PPS) guided by the 2019 Census.

The survey was conducted on March 8 to 9 2024.

The survey covered all 47 counties and 8 regions of Kenya. 

To ensure national representativeness, the distribution of the survey sample across the regions was proportionately allocated.

It had a 3.099 per cent at 95 per cent degree of confidence.
