Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has offered to support a hard-working Mombasa-based businesswoman who has been selling tea and mandazi.
Following a meeting with the woman identified as Asha Sidi Chengo at his Mombasa residence, Gachagua expressed admiration for the hard work in her business.
Gachagua particularly noted her skill in baking mandazi and her cheerful service to customers, many of whom are fellow hustlers along Mama Ngina Drive.
“In my early morning walks along Mama Ngina Drive in Mombasa City, I usually notice this particular woman engrossed in baking mandazi and cheerfully serving it with tea to her customers, mostly hustlers walking to their places of work,” Gachagua said.
“I reached out to her to understand her drive,” he said.
During their conversation, the DP elaborated that he was struck by her determination to live a dignified life and specifically offer her children quality education.
“It was, therefore, deserving to support Asha in expanding the hustle, besides education for her two teenage sons,” he said in a post.
Gachagua is in the Coastal city for a series of activities.
He was scheduled to deliver a public lecture at the Pwani University in Kilifi and also have an interaction with the students on “scaling the leadership ladder”.
Gachagua recently launched an initiative to mentor young people under the Rigathi Gachagua Foundation.
