22-year-old man dies by suicide after fallout with mother

A 22-year-old man has died by suicide following a strained relationship with his mother. 

The incident occurred on Friday in Samburu County and was reported at Maralal police station. 

"Around 1200hrs the body of one male Samburu middle-aged man was found dangling on a tree near their homestead within lpartuk," the police OB report read in part.

According to police, the young man died by suicide at an unknown time. 

The incident was reported by one Mark Loloolki who is a resident of lpartuk village within the Maralal location.

Police officers from Maralal police station and DCI Samburu Central visited the scene.

It is then that it was established that the deceased upon search in his pocket had left a suicide note.

The scene was processed and documented with the body which had no visible injuries removed and taken to the Samburu County referral hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.

In the suicide letter, the deceased addressed it to his mother.

He said he had overheard her tell a third party that she was fed up with him. 

"There is nothing I did to make you hate me like this. It is not bad to punish someone this way, but it is bad to punish someone for something he/she has not done," the letter read. 

"Today is my last day of suffering, but I hope you won't shed a tear for me because you all treated me like a monster for nothing."
