Kenya rolls out Phase three of diaspora Mobile Consular Services

Kenyans in Diaspora have the opportunity to access government services through mobile consular services.

The State Department for Diaspora Affairs under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has intensified its bid to ensure services are brought closer to the people.

Through the Mobile Consular Services Phase Three, Kenyans in  African countries such as Zambia and Botswana benefitted from the drive which took place from March 13 to March 17.

A group of others in Mozambique and South Africa benefitted from March 19 to March 23.

Services offered range from passport renewal, new ID application, application for citizenship and birth certificate, emergency travel document, document attestation, declaration of dual citizenship and police Clearance.

Kenyans from European countries such as Sweden have until Wednesday to access the services with the exercise having kicked off on Monday.

Other countries such as Denmark, Norway and Finland will access the services from March 21 to March 29.

The Mobile Consular Services activated by the government in various countries have made it easier for Kenyans in the diaspora to access essential government services.

During the exercise in Botswana, Kenya's High Commissioner and Ambassador Sabdiyo Dido Bashuna presided over the exercise while emphasizing its importance.

"Today, led Kenyans in Francistown and Palapye in receiving services from the Mobile Consular Services. I emphasized the importance of the MCS exercise," Sabdiyo said.

"We have our way of life. The things that bind us together and make us known across the world include our generosity, prowess in sports and entrepreneurial acumen. Let us be us."

She also reiterated the mission's prerogative of safeguarding Kenyans and Kenya's interests in the region.

On Monday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a post shared on X by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs showed several Kenyans in Sweden who turned up in a bid to access the services provided in Stockholm.

"The opportunity will enable Kenyans in the different countries to get the services at their convenience and bring a feel of home closer to you," the post read.

Kenyans have been urged to log in to the e-citizen website and fill in their application forms.

"Download and print the application form, and invoices and attach all required documents before coming to the venue," the statement said.

The details on requirements and application procedure for all the services can be accessed on the ministry's website under consular services.‍
