Still on the recently concluded polls of a professional group, we have been told it was a heavy money affair. Some candidates gunning for top positions reportedly joined forces and raised up to Sh25 million from senior state officials to splurge on the last week of the campaign and on voting day. Some voters are alleged to have received at least Sh5, 000 to cast the ballot for the right candidate. All they needed to do was to take a photo of the mark against the person's name and send it to the money man. Some officials had a particular dislike for a certain contender that all members of the profession in government were mobilised to vote for the favoured one to defeat the target.

A principal secretary in one of the vital state departments is the talk among his village mates. We are told he is putting up a multimillion-shilling mansion in his village. Whispers among the villagers are that he is planning to complete the new house mid this year and invite a big man in government for the opening ceremony. The man frequents the site every weekend to supervise the works to ensure everything works to his taste. Talking of class, the soft-spoken man is also planning to upgrade the road leading to his home to bitumen standard.
