Kang'ethe's extradition proceedings: Court to issue directions

US fugitive Kevin Kang'ethe will be arraigned back before Milimani Chief Magistrates Court for the continuation of his extradition proceedings.

The man is wanted in Massachusetts, US over the murder of his girlfriend Margaret Mbitu and leaving her body in a car at an airport parking lot, before fleeing to Kenya.

He was expected to appear for directions regarding the proceedings on February 19, but the same was adjourned to today, February 27.

He will appear before Milimani Chief Magistrate Lucas Onyina.

He is currently being detained at Industrial Area Remand Prison after the Prosecution received the orders on February 14, following his dramatic escape from lawful custody.

"Based on the circumstances, any escape must be subject to investigations and it would not be proper to have him remanded at Muthaiga or any other police station," Onyina said giving the orders.

Before his escape, Kang'ethe had been held at Muthaiga Police Station.

Four police officers who were on duty were interdicted.
