Police say shirt of the deceased man was soaked in blood and had stab wounds

Police are investigating the murder of a 48-year-old man in the Ruai area, Nairobi.

The body of Benard Asigi was found old lying five metres from the road.

The shirt of the deceased was soaked in blood and after checking the body, it was found to have a stab wound at the back near the left shoulder, police said.

The wound was not fresh and the incident is suspected to have taken place elsewhere and the body was dumped at the scene.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy. The motive of the Wednesday incident is yet to be established, police said.

In the same area, a 79-year-old woman was found dead in her bedroom.

Police said the woman’s body was discovered by her grandson on Tuesday after he came home for lunch.

The body of Akumu Madanji was found lying dead in a pool of blood in her bedroom.

Police said a newly employed farmhand was missing from the deceased home indicating possible involvement in the murder.

The security officers said they were looking for a known suspect in the murder. The motive is however yet to be known.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy.

No arrest has been made so far.

Elsewhere, police are investigating the murder of a man whose body was found in a seasonal river in the Kathiani area, Machakos County.

Residents reported to police they found the body at the Kenyonyeni seasonal river within Kwantheeu village on Tuesday.

Police officers visited the scene, where they found the body of an unknown middle-aged male adult lying on the river facing downwards in the seasonal river.

The deceased's clothes were wet and the body had no visible injuries, police said.

The body was moved to Kathiani hospital mortuary awaiting identification and postmortem examination.

Police say cases of murder have been on the rise amid ongoing probe and prosecution of suspects. Some incidents remain unsolved.
