Detectives are holding a suspect who allegedly killed an eight-year-old boy and injured a woman in the Ndenderu area, Kiambu County.

The suspect is reported to have waylaid the boy outside the gate where the minor lives with the man’s ex-lover.

According to police, the man managed to get into the home where he hacked the boy to death and attempted to kill the house girl who raised an alarm alerting the neighbours.

As the suspect attempted to flee, he fell into a pit where police had a difficult time removing him.

They managed to remove him with the help of the Kiambu firefighters. 

The man’s ex-lover, who was also in the house, managed to escape the attack and recorded a statement with police.

The injured woman is receiving treatment at Kiambu Level Five Hospital while the body of the boy was taken to Kihara Hospital Mortuary for autopsy.

Cases of homicide are on the rise amid calls on parties to solve their differences amicably.

Police in Kasarani, Nairobi are investigating the death of a man whose body was found lying on a fence of a private school.

The body of the man had multiple injuries and was identified as that of Samwel Wathika, 20.

A kitchen knife was recovered at the scene and kept as an exhibit.

The body was moved to Kenyatta University funeral home pending autopsy, police said.
