President William Ruto on Tuesday presided over the launch of the construction of affordable housing units in Emgwen constituency, Nandi County.
Ruto was accompanied by his deputy Rigathi Gachagua and Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekile Machogu among other leaders from the region.
The project will consist of 220 units and will create more than 4,000 jobs, including the local Jua Kali which will be tasked with producing 1,200 doors costing at least Sh26 million.
The affordable housing project, Ruto said, offers an effective solution to the increasing pressure on land, especially in agriculturally-rich parts of the country.
