Raila's birthday: Cake cutting across the country at 3:00 pm

Azimio leader Raila Odinga’s 79th birthday will be marked by cake-cutting ceremonies across the country at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has announced.

The party said there will be designated places where Raila’s birthday will be celebrated.

“The cutting of the cake will be symbolic… ‘Cut the cost of living and make life bearable for Kenyans’,” ODM said on X.

Azimio co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka wished Raila a happy birthday saying the Opposition chief had dedicated his life to make the country better.

“Happy birthday Jakom. There are relatively few people like you who have dedicated their entire lives to the betterment of the country.  I honour you. God bless you with abundant energy as well as a happy, healthy, and prosperous life,” Kalonzo said in his message to Raila.

Kalonzo’s Wiper Democratic Movement also sent Raila birthday messages saying he is the “courageous leader of our times.”

“Thank you very much for your service to Kenya. God bless you mightily,” the party said.

Kisumu governor Anyang' Nyong'o said he was excited to join Kenyans and the international community in wishing Raila a happy birthday.

“May you live longer to blow many more candles. Thanking God for the opportunity He has given you to serve humankind,” he said.

Nairobi Woman Rep Esther Passaris expressed gratitude to Raila for the impact he has had on her life.

Your unwavering support and encouragement have nurtured within me a profound desire to make a positive difference in the world. It's evident that you genuinely strive for the betterment of our nation and I wholeheartedly believe that God has a significant plan for you beyond what many may see. May He bless you abundantly, today and always. Happy, happy birthday,” she said.

Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai said the event should not only be a celebration of the years gone by but also a testament to the hope and promise that lies ahead.

“As the father of devolution and a luminary of our second liberation, you have stood as a beacon of hope and resilience,” he said.

Others who shared similar messages were Suna East MP Junet Mohammed, former Mombasa governor Hassan Joho, DAP-K and the Azimio Youth Wing.
