Man dies after resisting attackers in Mathare robbery

His body was found in the house on Sunday with blood oozing from the mouth

A 26-year-old man was killed in a robbery incident in Mathare slums, Nairobi.

Police said Vincent Otieno had tried to fight off a gang of two suspects who wanted to rob him of his mobile phone and cash when he sustained head injuries.

The deceased was in the company of his neighbor in Mathare 4A on Saturday evening when they were attacked.

He later succumbed to the injuries as he went to his house to rest after the incident, police noted he did not seek medical attention.

His body was found hours later in the house on Sunday with blood oozing from the mouth. It was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy.

Police said they have arrested a suspect in connection with the robbery and murder.

According to Nairobi police boss Adamson Bungei, the suspect is being interrogated for more information on their operations.

He also advised victims of robberies not to resist.

“There is nothing worth your life. Cooperate with those thugs depending on what you are experiencing,” he said.

He added they have mobilized teams to tame cases of robberies ahead of the festive season.

The teams will work beyond the festive season and urged for cooperation from the residents.

Man's body found in Muthurwa

Police are investigating the cause of death of a man whose body was found in Muthurwa area, Nairobi.

The body of one Suti Orina, 38, was discovered by neighbours at Muthurwa Block B.

According to police, the body had no visible injuries when it was discovered on Saturday night.

It was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy as part of the probe into the death.

17-year-old boy stabbed

A 17-year-old boy was stabbed and seriously injured in an attack in Ushirika Estate, Pangani area.

The boy was admitted to hospital after the stabbing by unknown people, police said.

Police said they are investigating the motive and those behind the attack, which happened on Saturday evening. No arrest has been made so far, police said on Monday.
