Mystery surrounds the murder of a man whose body was found floating on Nairobi River in Ruai.

The body was found wrapped in a sack when it was discovered by a woman in Shujaa.

The woman called the police who retrieved it from the water on Monday morning.

The body was rotting at the time it was retrieved from the water.

Police said the man may have been killed elsewhere, stuffed into a sack and dumped into the river.

It was then swept downstream to the place where it was discovered, police said.

The body had been dismembered at the time it was found.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending identification, autopsy and other investigations.

This is the second such a case to be reported in less than a week in Nairobi.

Police say they are investigating murder in the matter.

Elsewhere, a man succumbed to injuries he sustained in hospital following a fight in Nkubu, Meru.

Police said Martin Mugambi, 36, succumbed to injuries he sustained after an assault in the town.

He and another man had fought on November 24 when sustained injuries and was taken to hospital.

Police said he died two days later.

Police said they are investigating the matter and a hunt on the said assailant is ongoing.

An autopsy was planned on the body on Tuesday to establish the cause of the death.
