Probe launched after Trans Nzoia cops neglected duty during KCSE exams

Investigations started on November 21 for two Trans Nzoia police officers who were arrested for dereliction of duty.

The officers were said to have been deployed to provide security when KCSE examination was ongoing but they abandoned their duties and left for a drinking spree. 

Girl who gave birth in dormitory cleared to continue with KCSE exams

A Form Four girl in Busia who delivered on the night of November 14 inside her school dormitory was cleared by doctors to continue sitting exams.

Doctors declared the girl from a school in Budalang’i strong and healthy enough to continue with her exams.

The girl, after delivery, was rushed to a local hospital for check-up before she was cleared by medical personnel to return to school.

Examiner dies after being struck by helicopter blades in Garissa

An examiner died after being hit by helicopter blades in a village in Ijara, Garissa on November 21. 

The examiner who was a deputy head teacher at a Masalani secondary school died on the spot after being hit in the head by the blades of the chopper.

Witnesses said he was hit by the rear blade of the chopper as he disembarked.

Four KCSE candidates sat exams in hospital after delivery

Four candidates sat their KCSE papers in hospital after giving birth in Machakos county.

Three of the teenagers reportedly delivered at Kangundo Level 4 hospital on November 6 while the fourth successfully gave birth at the same facility on November 7.

The quartet were said to be from four different secondary schools within Kangundo subcounty.

Five teachers arrested over claims of exam malpractice in Kuria West 

Police arrested five teachers in Kuria West over an alleged Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education malpractice.

Police said 30 mobile phones were confiscated after the arrest.

Elsewhere on November 6, police arrested six Telegram group administrators suspected of being involved in the KCSE exams. 

Teacher charged with sale of fake exam papers 

A CRE teacher suspected of allegedly selling fake KCPE and KCSE papers was on October 30 charged before a Milimani Magistrate's Court.

Nicholus Ngumbau Kalewa alias Mr Examiner was accused of committing the offence on diverse dates between September 1, and October 25, 2023.

Candidate drowns in a river in Machakos 

A KCSE candidate drowned on November 24 shortly after sitting the day's exam in Matungulu, Machakos County.

The drowning incident was reported at KBC police station.

The deceased is said to have been in the company of four other boys taking selfies at a dam when he slipped and fell into the water.
