Aisha Salome, the woman who lost Sh100,000 in a Kitengela-bound bus to two thieves, is thankful to God.
Salome was traveling from Kakamega to Nairobi on September 27, 2023, on her way to Kitengela after her elder sister's invitation, when she lost the amount.
“When we arrived in Nairobi, my money was intact in my handbag. I boarded a connecting bus to Kitengela and took the back seat,” she told the Star on the telephone.
Salome said that because she had her baby, she wanted a spacious seat and that after breastfeeding her child, she had a short wink.
“When we stopped at Kitengela’s bus park, I realised my handbag and the money were gone. I suspected the two women who sat with me. They alighted immediately and disappeared from my sight,” said Salome on Thursday.
She said that after alighting, she went directly to Kitengela Police Station to report the theft.
On reporting the matter, she went to her sister’s house in the town and narrated her chilling story.
“I left home in Kakamega after my sister in Kitengela told me to get the money for starting a retail shop business. The money was gone and could not imagine what would happen next,” Salome said.
She said that after briefing her sister on what happened in the Kitengela-bound bus, she was told to relax.
Her sister, she said, immediately called someone in Kakamega and was given a number belonging to a traditional medicine man by the name of Dr. Nyuki Waswa.
Salome said she called Waswa, who was at the time in Bungoma, and told her story.
“Waswa agreed to travel to Kitengela on October 3, 2023. He came to our place and interrogated me on what happened,” she said.
Salome said Waswa assured her that the suspects were around the town and had spent some money from her lost amount.
When the Star sought Waswa in Kitengela, his rented lodging house was fully packed.
Many people were waiting to see him on various personal issues and having a detailed interview would hinder his business.
He promised to give us five minutes of interview and we obliged.
His first statement made us blush when he said he is not working alone in the business of hunting criminals.
“I am not alone, God is my guide. Nothing is possible without the blessings of our Heavenly Father. When he says it will happen, all will happen,” he said.
Wasilwa confirmed what Salome said and said after arriving in Kitengela, he started to work immediately.
“I did what was possible to nab the two thieves who stole her money. I sent them the bees that gave them a visit on Wednesday morning,” he explained.
Waswa said his bees do not sting those he sends to but confuse the culprits and would remain so until he is called to release his “soldiers”.
He explained that even if he is not 100 per cent perfect in catching the criminals, his hands have been blessed by the living God.
“There is nothing I do without putting them in prayer. I have failed in other cases because the suspects travel far away or even out of the country,” he said.
He said the two women who were arrested by his bees in Kitengela were enjoying the money at the time.
“The two were out of their senses when they walked around Kitengela town holding the stolen money. The bees just confused them and they did not know what they were doing,” he said.
Meanwhile, the two women who stole the money were expected to be arraigned in court on Friday in Kajiado.
They are still locked up at Kitengela police station.
