Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has responded to remarks by Trade CS Moses Kuria that he (Khalwale) and ‘his master’ had advised him to apologise to Kenyans.

Speaking on Citizen TV on Thursday, the Senator termed himself an independent-minded person who cannot be remote-controlled.

He said that despite being the Chief Whip in the Senate, he has other roles to play for which he was elected to do by Kenyans, which include oversight.

“He knows that I am an independent-minded leader in this country and that I cannot be remote controlled so he should find his refuge elsewhere,” Khalwale said.

“I refuse to respond to social media, I refuse to go into an exchange with him because I was speaking as an elected Senator and over and above that I am one of the leaders in the senate as the Chief Whip on the Majority side so I cannot take it lightly.”

He dismissed the apology by Kuria as sarcasm noting that telling people to go and drill oil wells either in their homes or villages was arrogance.

“Every tone of that particular tweet is nothing but sarcasm. There was no apology there,” Khalwale said.

In his apology on Wednesday morning, Kuria said that he had been advised by Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale and his master that his remarks were incorrect and insensitive.

The CS said he has now been made to understand the price of fuel will drop, hence his apology.
