Colonel Benjamin Maswili has been mandated by the Kenya Defence Forces to continue with his military Ordinariate duties until further notice.

The ordinariate provides pastoral care to Catholics serving in the Kenyan Armed Forces and their families.

In a statement released by the Kenya Defence Force via their social media handles, the KDF confirmed Maswili’s extension of service.

This came after it had been earlier stated that he was going for a terminal leave.

The KDF extended Maswilli's tenure during a family harvest Thanksgiving Mass at Defence Headquarters, Hurlingham, Nairobi.

The mass was presided over by the chief guest, Major General David Ketter.

“We acknowledge the efforts of the clergy and faithful in enabling today’s family day to be a success,” Ketter said.

He further encouraged the faithful to do more through the guidance of the church’s teachings in order to gain more from God.

Vice Moderator of the Diocesan Pastorate Council, Ms Beatrice Mitoko, stated that family day is a day of thanksgiving for the much the Lord has done.

The reverent of the diocese of Kitui, Father John Mwandi, the representative of the diocese of Nakuru, Father James Gachigi, and the National Director of the Pontification Mission Societies Father Bonaventure Lucindio were also in attendance.
