Majority leader Kimani Ichung'wah could not make it to the bipartisan talks on time due to bad weather.

Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire told the teams that are already at the Bomas of Kenya that Ichung'wah could not fly to the meeting due to the bad weather in Nyeri.

She however disclosed that he was on way.

"I am here to represent our team leader who unfortunately got held up in Nyeri and due to the bad weather," Mbarire said.

"He could not get to fly in time but he is now airborne we expect that he should be here shortly," she added.

The much-awaited Kenya Kwanza and Azimio la Umoja Coalition talks at Bomas of Kenya have kicked off.

The leader of the Azimio delegation Kalonzo Musyoka, in his opening remarks, said they will respect the dignity of all participants, the Constitution and the rule of law.

Mbarire led the Kenya Kwanza team as they waited for Ichung'wah, who is also the National Assembly Majority Leader.

Mbarire said they had come in good faith, putting the interests of Kenyans first.

"We will look at long-lasting solutions to the challenges facing Kenyans. We believe we will get the solutions to move the country forward and maintain peace," she said.
