President William Ruto has intensified countrywide visits as part of his strategy to counter opposition Leader Raila Odinga's anti-government protests.
Ruto will on Saturday visit Kisii County to launch various development projects, signalling his all-out plan to shore up grassroots support amid a crusade against his administration.
The President's Kisii tour comes hot on the heels of his visits to Kericho and Isiolo counties on Wednesday and Thursday.
Ruto also toured Nakuru County last week as he stepped out to explain his programmes to Kenyans.
On Friday, the President will tour Murang'a County to unveil several development projects funded by the national government.
Ruto is also scheduled to visit Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi's Vihiga county over the weekend as well.
The Star understands that the president's advisers are keen on the President's countrywide tours as a way of explaining the government's agenda.
The President traversed the country accompanied by his deputy Rigathi Gachagua in a move designed to display unity when the government is under pressure from the opposition.
There have been concerns that the government is rapidly losing popularity at the grassroots because most of its plans to lessen the high cost of living have not been well articulated.
The opposition has capitalised on the unfulfilled campaign pledges to rally Kenyans against the government, threatening Ruto's popularity.
On Friday, United Democratic Alliance(UDA) Treasurer Japhet Nyakundi said the government is connecting with its people and reassuring citizens of its commitment to implementing the Kenya Kwanza manifesto.
''We want to speak to our people and reassure the country of the government's resolve to improve their lives and reduce the cost of living,'' he said.
There have been concerns in the government that little is being done to market the Kenya Kwanza interventions in various sectors to address the skyrocketing cost of living.
During the countrywide tours, Ruto is accompanied by Cabinet Secretaries responsible for the dockets handling the projects he would be launching.
The strategy is also seen as a game-changer plan to help Kenya Kwanza MPs gain a foothold at their grassroots, with Ruto launching various roads in their constituencies.
The countrywide tours meant to counter the Azimio protests are complimenting the ongoing Kenya Kwanza Thanksgiving services being hosted at the counties.
In the recent past, the opposition protests are attracting massive support from Kenyans whom analysts say are disillusioned by delayed promises.
But Ruto is countering the rhetoric by taking to the rooftop of his cars to explain his interventions and reassure Kenyans of the government's commitment.
