Calvin Okoth alias Gaucho has been arrested outside City Hall by undercover police.

The reason for his arrest is yet to be known.

It emerged police had been looking for him since Saturday, May 27.

Teams were mobilized and ordered to look for him.

Gaucho switched off his mobile phones and went into hiding.

On Monday, Gaucho had arrived outside City Hall and was engaging his supporters in a chit-chat when three undercover cops arrived and asked him to accompany them.

The officers led him to a waiting blue Subaru and sped off.

Gaucho seemed surprised by the move and obliged to the orders.

It is the second time in a week to arrest Gaucho, a loyalist of Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition party leader Raila Odinga.

Last week, he was arrested and detained overnight at Muthangari police station before being released with no charges following his arrest on May 23, 2023.

The aspiring politician wondered why police arrested him as he was heading to Nation Media Group for an interview. He protested the move terming it harassment.

“I went to Central to pick up my phones that were taken the last time I was arrested. But when I entered one of the offices, the officers said that there were some people looking for me. At first, I thought it was a joke but later on, seven people came and picked me saying they were looking for me.”

“They took my phone before I called Babu Owino and switched it off. They have not told me why they arrested me.”

Former Defence Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa warned the government to stop intimidating Kenyans.

“They have started targeting and arresting Azimio supporters. We had a young man referred to as Gaucho, one that my successor said was a lowly person and should not be seen with great leaders. These are the real hustlers who are taken for a ride by the hustlers in government,” he said.

Wamalwa claimed Gaucho’s arrest was meant to intimidate him after he made a hard-hitting statement at Jubilee’s National Delegates Conference in Nairobi on May 23, 2023.

The former CS vowed to ensure Gaucho’s unconditional release.
