It has now emerged that the Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission (EACC) is still probing other officers from the Samburu county government in relation to the Sh84 million graft case facing ex-governor Moses Lenolkulal.

The information came out as the lead Investigating officer Joel Nyongesa, who is the last witness was being cross-examined by one of the defense counsels in the case.

The defense counsels yesterday sought to find out from Nyongesa who facilitated the difference of Sh23 million in the graft case to which Nyongesa said  “They are not in court. The matter is still under active investigations. Those officers are still being probed."

Between March 27, 2013, and March 25, 2019, Lenolkulal is said to have used his office to improperly confer upon himself a benefit of Sh84 million through the Oryx service station.

The other accused persons being his county secretary and chief officers obtained monetary benefits of Sh61 million.

On Tuesday, Nyongesa said the former governor as the appointing authority had influence on accounting officers who were awarding and approving the particular payment.
