President William Ruto has said the ongoing chaos in Sudan which has taken over a month now needs to stop.

Speaking during the Pan-African Parliament Summit on Climate Policy and Equity in South Africa, Ruto said as African leaders, they need to tell the two Generals to stop the fights.

"The Generals in Sudan are bombing everything, roads, bridges, hospitals and destroying airports," he said.

"They are using military hardware bought with African money. We need to tell those Generals to stop this."

So far, a million people have fled their homes, over the chaos, as most of them are displaced within the country.

The army and the rival Rapid Support Forces have continued to fight in densely populated areas, as they are both blaming each other for the chaos.

The two rival groups, RSF led by Gen Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, alias Hemedti and the Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) led by Abdel Fattah al-Burhan had been fighting before the 2019 uprising that ousted Omar-Al-Bashir who ruled the country for 30 years.

Hemedti is the deputy leader of the Sovereignty Council, and Fattah is the current country's de facto ruler.

The two have had long-running disputes revolving around their personal gains and competition after Bashir's ouster.

The development which could have triggered the fight between the two is the signing of the Framework Agreement establishing the transitional period on December 5, 2022.

The Framework stated that the Army will quit politics and hand over power to civilians.
