Music band Sauti Sol have threatened to withdraw their membership from the Music Copyright Society of Kenya.

The band through their social media pages decried poor pay of their royalties from their music.

"We are going to withdraw our membership from the society as it does not serve our best interests entirely," the band said on Tuesday.

Sauti Sol called out to other musicians in Kenya who may feel dissatisfied with the services to join their exit from it.

"All disgruntled members who wish to do the same, the time is now! Please reach out. Take back your power," the band said.

They questioned why  MCSK always act like they are doing Kenyan musicians a favour.

The band explained that the royalties collected by MCSK belong to musicians and not society itself.

"The royalties collected are not their direct income but yours. They are working for you! They are supposed to distribute nothing less than 70 per cent of all royalties collected to the members," Sauti Sol said.

"MSCK is also supposed to provide credible statements of account after distributing loyalties collected to members."
