Ahmed Kolosh assumes office as new KRB chairperson

The Kenya Roads Board new chairperson Ahmed Kolosh Mohamed on Friday assumed office. 

Kolosh becomes the seventh chairperson of the board. 

He expressed gratitude to President William Ruto and CS Kipchumba Murkomen for his appointment.

"I pledged to facilitate a seamless relationship between the board and management to ensure that the objectives of the board are met," Kolosh said. 

Speaking during the inaugural ceremony, Murkomen lauded the newly appointed chairperson's track record and acknowledged the leadership of both the board and the director general, Rashid Mohamed.

Murkomen emphasized the importance of KRB taking a leading role in the transition to electric mobility and ensuring the sustainability of road maintenance funding.

The CS was accompanied by the Principal Secretary State Department of Roads Joseph Mbugua, KRB DG Rashid Mohamed, outgoing chairperson Phyllis Wakiaga and board directors.

KRB is responsible for oversight and coordination of road maintenance, development, rehabilitation and advising the CS on all matters related thereto.

Kolosh was appointed by the President on April 5  for three years.

He is a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) graduate with a Master of Arts Sociology (Disaster Management)

Kolosh has worked in National Hospital Insurance Fund for 10 years in various management capacities.

He later joined politics and served as Wajir West MP.

The outgoing chairperson of the board is Phylis Wakiaga.
