Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has said that if there will be a handshake between opposition chief Raila Odinga and President William Ruto, he will not be involved.
Speaking in Kiambu County during the oil consecration ceremony at AIPCA Church on Thursday, he said neither does he want to shake Raila's hand.
“Those people should leave me alone. I am not a hardliner; I am just saying what my bosses want. My people do not want a handshake - or do you? He said the other day that he does not want to shake my hand, do I look like I would accept his greeting? ” Gachagua asked.
The DP said nothing good comes out of a handshake.
“He had a handshake with our prince who was a good person full of respect but later, you all saw what happened. Even if there is a handshake, I as Rigathi Gachagua will not be there,” he said.
“You might have a handshake and your things change. Can you tell me to have a handshake with him? I can’t and I won’t be there. For me, I am the husband to a pastor.”
He said that Azimio Coalition want half of the government while they had a chance but they failed.
“It does not matter whether they cheer or jeer me. There is no way those who did not plant anything harvest. You know I found them in a queue at State House. Those who had not planted anything were at the forefront and those who planted were at the back,” he said.
“I decided my job will be to push forward those who planted and ask those who planted nothing to go to the back. This is why they are asking to share the government and they claim I am the one being a hardliner.”
Further, he said that the state will appoint a number of AIPCA members to government positions as a way of appreciating their efforts for supporting them during the elections.
“I want to say, we will make plans for this church. I will invite the Bishops and the leadership of this church so that we can talk, and I will also take them to President Ruto. As I had said, this government is a lot like a company and the AIPCA church has a lot of shares,” the DP said.
