Jamia supermarket in Kisumu looted during demos

Jamia Supermarket in Kisumu was on Thursday evening looted, property destroyed during the Azimio anti-government protest.

The supermarket is situated next to Jua Kali at the Aga Khan roundabout.

The supermarket was stormed by a section of people who looted almost everything before deserting some of the items within the supermarket.

The proprietor Hussein Hassan questioned what he had done to the protesters to warrant such a deed.

Hassan said he had lost goods worth millions of shillings.

"What have I done to warrant such destruction? What problem do the people have with me," he questioned.

"I have a family and people taking care of and I don't know where to start."

In the shops at Jua Kali, spare parts were up in flames even as firefighters tried to put off the fire.

The shops were dealing in motor vehicles and cycle spare parts.
