President William Ruto on Thursday said he deliberately made appointments of Chief Administrative Secretaries across the country for inclusivity.

Speaking during their swearing-in ceremony at State House, Nairobi, the President said his administration is focused on bringing Kenyans together.

"I went out of my way to even appoint people who may have not necessarily voted for me because the elections are behind us," he said.

Ruto said the time to work and serve the people together is now, adding that the new team is full of diverse individuals who bring in a good experience, as they understand service for people.

"Some of you were bloggers, others were governors and MCAs, you have taken the oath to serve, serve the people with dignity, bring your experience to serve in your new responsibilities," he said.

"Kenyans expectations are enormous, there is absolutely no reason to fail to deliver on our mandate."

Ruto also urged the CAS to serve Kenyans as per the Constitution.

"I want to implore you to read, consult, and be informed so that you can serve Kenyans better," Ruto said.

The 50 CASs were appointed on Wednesday by the President after communication from Speaker Moses Wetang'ula that there's no law that requires them to be vetted by the House.

"It is notified that the Speaker of the National Assembly has referred back to the Appointing Authority the Transmittal of the Nominees for Appointment to the rank of Chief Administrative Secretaries," State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed said.
