Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has asked Azimio leader Raila Odinga to call off the mass action in Nairobi.
Gachagua said the chaos by Azimio supporters is not good for the economy.
He said already, Kenya has lost Sh2 billion because of the closed businesses in the Nairobi CBD. However, he did not substantiate his claims.
"We are happy that President William Ruto is in charge and has ensured that no life has been lost and no property has been destroyed," said Gachagua.
However, Naivas Supermarket and a hotel in Kisumu bore the brunt of the protests.
Gachagua spoke at the Grain Bulk Handlers Limited compound where he received two consignments of food aid from the US and Ukraine.
He said he is happy most Kenyans have ignored the illegal declaration of a holiday by Raila and have gone to work as normal.
"But there are some who did open their shops in the CBD in Nairobi for fear of the protests. As a result, the country has lost about Sh2 billion in terms of business," said the DP.
He said the chaos today will roll back the gains the country had made in terms of economic recovery.
"What they are doing is destroying the economy. We had started showing signs of recovery from the economic downturn," said Gachagua.
He appealed to Raila to call off the mass action in the afternoon.
"It is unfair to ask people's children to go to the streets while your children are in EALA enjoying the perks of the job you gave them," Gachagua told Raila.
