Itumbi is qualified, deserves CAS job – Lawyer Ahmednasir

The lawyer however, said he reserves his comments on other nominees.

Lawyer Ahmednasir Abdulahi has said Denis Itumbi deserves the nomination of ICT Chief Administrative secretary position. 

Ahmednasir said he personally knows Itumbi and vouch for his nomination which will eventually turn into an appointment and sworn. 

"I Grand Mullah do hereby solemnly swear on oath and state as follows;  Itumbi is qualified for the job of CAS, deserves it, I vouch for him," he stated.

The lawyer,  however, said he reserves his comments on other nominees. 

Itumbi is a close ally to President William Ruto and during the August 9, 2022 elections, he was updating Presidential results on his social media handles dubbing it 'The Hustler National Intelligence Bureau' (HNIB)

When he allegedly fell out with retired President Uhuru Kenyatta, Itumbi strongly supported Ruto during his campaigns and would religiously post only matters United Democratic Alliance (UDA). 

Taking to his Twitter account, Itumbi thanked the President for the nomination two days before his birthday. 

"President Ruto two days to my birthday appoints me CAS. President asante. Three years of writing a testimony against all odds," he tweeted. 

Itumbi was nominated alongside 49 others whose names were submitted to Parliament for vetting on Thursday.

"It is notified that His Excellency Hon William Samoei Ruto, following the recommendation of the Public Service Commission has today 16th March 2023 nominated various persons as Chief Administrative Secretaries," Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service Felix Koskei said in a communication to Parliament. 

“By dint of the executive action, the nominations have been transmitted to the national Assembly for consideration and approval by Parliament in accordance with the Public Appointments Act,” Koskei added.

The nominations are in line with Article 132(4)(a) of the Constitution.

Itumbi was shortlisted for the CAS position and was interviewed on March 1.

The Public Service Commission had submitted a list of 240 candidates to the President after the conclusion of interviews.
