Police probe death of drunk man who jumped to death in Kiamumbi

A team of detectives is investigating claims a 29-year-old jumped from the tenth floor of an apartment and died in Kiamumbi area, Kiambu.

The body of Polycarp Kariuku Mwangi was found on the ground floor of Abbeys Apartments in Kiamumbi area on March 12 long after he had died.

His relatives told police he went to the rooftop of the apartment and jumped off in apparent suicide at 1.40 am.

He had arrived home looking drunk before he left and went to the rooftop where jumped off.

Police say they are investigating to establish the claims of suicide.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending further investigations.

Elsewhere, police are investigating an incident in which a 75-year-old man was found dead with injuries in his house in a village in Kilifi County.

The body of Kahindi Charo Kombe, 75, was discovered lying dead on his bed with deep cut wounds on the face and head, having been murdered during the night at an unknown time by unknown people.

He lived alone in Vilwakwe village within Tsangalaweni sub-location, police said.

Police said they are yet to make an arrest over the murder that happened on March 13.

A team that visited the scene said they are pursuing several leads into the murder.

Such incidents are common in the area where elderly people are targeted over several claims.

There has been a campaign to address the menace in vain.
