Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka has said the ongoing case against ex-Interior CS Fred Matiang'i, is a vindictive agenda.

Onyonka as speaking to the media on Tuesday.

“I believe this is a vindictive agenda towards CS Matiang'i. You can see how this thing has been organised,” Onyonka said.

The senator said Matiang'i can defend himself over the ongoing case.

“If indeed there are any crimes that Honourable Matiang'i committed, let him receive due process. Let him come and write a statement and discuss with the DCI what the issues are. If they find there is anything, let him be taken to court. I know he will have a good capacity to defend himself,” Onyonka said.

“I don’t think there is need for anybody to come and support him. Right now he needs very good lawyers and very clever people around him so that he goes through this.”

He added that since independence, no Interior CS has been summoned to answer questions pertaining to his previous activities after handing over power.
