Details of Jill Biden's visit to Mama Rachel Friday

Jill's visit will touch on women's economic empowerment projects.

The First Lady of the United States of America Jill Biden is set to land in the country on Friday, February 24. 

Jill will be in the country for two days till Sunday 26. 

First Lady Mama Rachel Ruto has welcomed the visit saying it will be a great honour to Kenya.

"This visit is a follow-up of the U.S. Africa Leaders’ Summit held in December 2022 where Dr Biden hosted a two-day program for Africa’s First Ladies present," Mama Rachel said.

President William Ruto attended the summit.

Mama Rachel noted that Jill's visit will touch on women's economic empowerment projects. 

"Dr Biden will focus on women's economic empowerment projects and will visit the joyful women program, where she will get a chance to experience table banking," she said.

She termed table banking as a transformational economic empowerment model.

The first lady has championed the Joyful Women Program, which operates under Mama Doing Good Organization.

The Joyful Women Program table banking model is active in 39 out of 47 counties in Kenya and aims to expand to all 47 Counties. 

The visit, according to the first lady, also aims to strengthen the ties between the two countries. 

"Dr Jill Biden is visiting Kenya from Friday to strengthen America’s partnerships with Kenya and the African continent, and advance shared priorities between America and Kenya," Mama Rachel said. 

Jill's visit to Kenya will be her third. She will be arriving in Kenya from Namibia where she made her first stop
