Former governors are experienced for CAS jobs, Khalwale says

Out of the 240 shortlisted candidates, eight are former county bosses

Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has urged President William Ruto not to succumb to social media pressure and appoint former governors as Chief Administrative Secretaries if they qualify. 

Speaking during an interview with K24 TV, Khalwale said people who have served as governors have a lot of experience that will add value to the Kenya Kwanza administration.

"I want to encourage the President not to succumb to social media pressure. If a former governor has credentials that will bring value to a ministry, please appoint him," he said. 

Khalwale further said the position of CAS is important as they help Cabinet Secretaries to run businesses of the ministry following their busy schedules. 

On Monday evening, Public Service Commission released a list of shortlisted candidates who applied for the CAS position. 

Their interviews will be conducted from March 1, and if successful, Ruto will appoint them to the positions. 

Out of the 240 candidates, eight are former county bosses who want to try their luck. 

Evans Kidero, Nairobi's first governor, John Mruttu of Taita Taveta, and Samuel Tunai who served as Narok county boss made it to the list. 

Other governors are James Ongwae of Kisii, Samuel Ragwa of Tharaka Nithi and Patrick Khaemba of Trans Nzoia county. 

Hussein Dado of Tana River and Moses Lenolkulal of Samburu also are in the list to try their luck.
