An Administration Police constable was on Thursday charged afresh at the high court in Mombasa with the alleged murder of a civilian in 2018.

Yunus Athman Ali denied the charges before Lady Justice Anne Ong'injo.

He is accused of committing the offence at Mwenza Village in Likoni.

Ali's co-accused, Mohammed Karega Kassim, is now a prosecution witness and will testify in the trial, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions said.

Ipoa filed an affidavit opposing Ali's release on bond saying it is investigating him on another allegation of murder.

Ali is alleged to have murdered Albert Wekesa, a bodaboda rider in May, 2022.

Wekesa's body was found dumped along Dongo Kundu Road in Kwale county.

The court will rule on this matter next month.
