Former IEBC boss Wafula Chebukati is today expected to appear before the Aggrey Muchelule-led panel probing the four suspended IEBC commissioners.

The tribunal, which is holding its sittings at the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development resumed its sittings on Monday.

Former vice chairperson commissioner Julina Cherera and commissioners Francis Wanderi and Justus Nyang'aya opted to resign in December after Parliament approved a petition to have the President form a tribunal to probe their conduct.

The tribunal began its hearing on December 21 despite the resignation of the three.

Commissioner Irene Masit has however, chosen not to appear personally before the panel and is being represented by her lawyer Donald Kipkorir.

On Monday, the two other commissioner who exited alongside Chebukati-Abdi Guliye and Boya Muli appeared before the tribunal.

They gave their account of the events preceding the declaration of the final presidential results at the Bomas of Kenya.

"There was a lot of insecurity at the tallying centre. A number of our staff were abducted and many were freighted. Our staff was scared including ourselves who were hurt at the tallying centre," Guliye said.

"After announcing the presidential results, we went into hiding because we didn't know what was going to happen to any of us."

Earlier, Guliye had revealed that some of the commissioners were forced to go into hiding after the election process got chaotic.
