Uganda's High Commissioner to Kenya and Seychelles Dr Hassan Galiwango has passed away.
He died on Monday morning in Nairobi while undergoing treatment.
His death was announced by Uganda's first deputy Prime Minister and Minister for East African Community Affairs, Rebecca Kadaga.
"It is with great sadness that I announce the death of H.E Dr Galiwango, High Commissioner of Uganda to Kenya, which occurred this morning," she said.
He has been the High Commissioner to Kenya and Seychelles since June 2021 when he presented his credentials to President of the two countries.
Prior to becoming a High Commissioner, Galiwango was a former long serving director of finance and administration at the National Resistance Movement (NRM) secretariat.
Kenya's CS for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Alfred Mutua condoled with the family of Galiwango.
"My condolences to the President, Government and the people of Uganda on the passing of Ugandan High Commissioner to Kenya, Dr. Hassan Wasswa Galiwango, who passed away this morning in Nairobi Hospital. My deepest sympathies to his family. Rest In Peace Ndugu," he said in a tweet.
