Political leaders under the Azimio La Umoja camp have penned sweet and emotional messages for Raila Odinga as he celebrates his 78th birthday. 

Former president Uhuru Kenyatta, who described Raila as his handshake brother said may God's favour be upon him on his birthday. 

"I would like to take this opportunity in the new year, to wish my brother and friend Raila Odinga a happy birthday. May God's blessings and favour be upon you today and in the years to come," he said. 

Mutahi Ngunyi, through his official Twitter page quoted a Nigerian  proverbs while wishing Raila well on his birthday saying with perseverance, a needle can dig a well. 

"Happy birthday Raila Odinga. Remember: Revolutionaries have no expiry date. With perseverance, a needle can dig a well (Nigerian proverb). 2027 is only four years away," he tweeted. 

On Friday,  while addressing Mombasa ODM delegates, Raila was soothed with a birthday song. 

"Happy birthday dear baba, how old are you now?" they sang happily. 

Other leaders also wished him well.
