President says government will use all tactics to restore peace.

President William Ruto has said that his administration will step up efforts to secure the Kerio Valley.

“We will use all tactics to restore peace and give people a chance to engage in gainful economic activities in Kerio Valley,” he said. 

Speaking during the Annual Kimalel Goat Auction and Cultural Fair in Baringo Central, Baringo county Ruto also said the construction of a leather factory and dams as some of the programmes that will transform lives in the area.

"My government is determined to restore normalcy in the region," he said. 

He had also directed all schools in Baringo closed due to banditry attacks to resume learning by January 2023.

Ruto said that children being out of school denies them the right to education.

"County commissioner and your team including regional commissioner, assistant county commissioner, chiefs,  assistant chiefs and Nyumba Kumi, in January we want all those schools opened and children to go back to class," he said.

He said that everyone in Baringo should live freely for the country to move forward.

"We are all united in making sure that we have a peaceful Baringo and a peaceful Kenya. Because of that, we have five schools in Baringo South that have since been closed and another three in Baringo North," he said.

Present during the function were Cabinet Secretaries Simon Chelugui (MSMEs), Florence Bore (Labour), Governors Benjamin Cheboi (Baringo), Wesley Rotich (Elgeyo Marakwet), Susan Kihika (Nakuru) and a host of MPs.
