Protesters on Tuesday gathered outside Senate chanting songs, demanding for the impeachment of Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza.
This came just before the Senate convene to consider the impeachment motion against the first time governor.
The protesters carried placards reading "Incompetence is not gendered. Those who think so are enemies of the Ameru people."
Others read ''Meru county is not a family affair" and "Promoted beyond competence."
Other placards were written in the Ameru language.
The Meru residents numbering about 50 people are urging Senators to uphold the impeachment and ‘save the county from impunity.’
Senate special sitting was convened by Speaker Amason Kingi following the submission of impeachment documents by the Meru county assembly speaker Solomon Bundi.
