Kisumu Women Representive Ruth Odinga cracked the ribs of mourners while introducing her Ghanaian husband during the State Funeral of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

Raila, she said, was the one who gave her the Ghanaian husband amid laughter from the mourners.

"You can see my husband, a Ghanaian. I also know how to choose a good husband," she said.

Ruth added, "Many of you know that I don't have my right-hand man—husband."

Her husband praised Raila as a statesman, patriot, and a good man. Ruth also took the opportunity to introduce her son Sankara Odinga . She said Raila sacrificed a lot for Kenyans, something that his fellow citizens did not appreciate.

"Let Raila rest; he has suffered a lot. You've sacrificed for this country, " Ruth said.

Ruth said he has walked a political journey with Raila, including during his detention. She hosted Raila in Norway as a refugee in 1990.

"I was also a victim of detention. I had to fly to Uganda and Tanzania before heading to Norway, where I hosted my brother," Ruth said.

She praised Raila's bodyguards, the late George Odiwuor, Maurice Ogeta, and his personal doctor for their dedication and commitment while serving Raila.

"Ogeta has suffered since Raila passed away. He has served him for 18 years. He has seen what Raila went through. It was painful," Ruth said.
