Ruto absence delaying KCPE results

 

The 2022 Kenya Certificate of Primary Examinations results are expected to be released any time from Tuesday.

The Star has established that the examiners completed the marking process last Friday and the results are ready.

The Kenya National Examinations Council chief examiners and their assistants were over the weekend working overdrive ahead of the release.

"We are ready and once the president is briefed, the examinations will be released immediately,' a senior KNEC official told the Star.

"Tuesday is likely but Wednesday is highly likely."

It is understood that President William Ruto is expected to be briefed about the results and the performance of the candidates.

However, President Ruto is still away after his visit to the United States.

He was in Qatar on Sunday evening where he watched the world cup finals between France and Argentina.

The tradition is that the Head of State must be briefed on the results before they are officially released by the Education Cabinet Secretary.

There is no legal requirement about this.

It is not clear if the Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu would break the decades-long-held tradition by his predecessors.

During the leadership of Fred Matiang'i and George Magoha-who served during President Uhuru Kenya's regime-release of exam results caught parents and candidates off-guard.
