Raila to leave for US on Saturday for US-Africa summit

He expected to lead discussions on the promotion of investment infrastructure

Azimio leader Raila Odinga will jet out of the country on Saturday night for a one-week visit to the United States.

Raila will join other leaders from African countries who will converge in the North American nation for a US-Africa conference in Washington DC.

The former Prime Minister is expected to arrive in Washington on Monday for the summit that runs from December 13-15.

“He will be attending the meeting in his capacity as the African Union High Representative for Infrastructure Development,” a communication from his office said.

Raila is expected to lead discussions on the promotion of investment infrastructure and just energy.

He is also lined up for a series of meetings with leaders from public and private sectors and civil society organisations on the sidelines of the meeting.

“He will be back in the country by December 18 to proceed with planned public programmes,” the press release said.
