Kenya Power has announced a power outage in parts of Nairobi, the Coast region and Mt. Kenya.

In a statement, the company said that it lost its power supply due to a system disturbance.

"We are working in collaboration with other sector players to restore the power as soon as possible," the statement read.

The company apologised to customers for the inconvenience caused.

Kenyans, especially those working from home, expressed their frustrations, urging the company to fix the problem urgently.

The outage comes amidst complaints from Kenyans over the increased cost of buying electricity, as most of them say they pay more for less.

"I used to get 23 units for Sh500, now I get 19 units."

In January 2022, the company confirmed a power outage in several parts of the country is due to a glitch.

"We would like to inform our customers that we are experiencing an outage in parts of Nairobi, Rift Valley, Western Kenya and South Nyanza following a technical hitch that has affected two major lines supplying power to the affected areas."
